Jack

Ahhh I've been waiting to put this up forever! I havent even been able to talk about it and finally the day has arrived!

This is a painting I did for my older brother Matthew, who is turning 22 today! He is my idol and my role model and I look up to him very much. I can't thank him enough for all he has done for me, i love him very much.

Because he lives in Columbus Ohio and I live in Chicago Illinois, I had to find a way to get him his birthday present...which obviously needed much planning in the months leading up to this day ha. I began work on this painting during my winter break when I was home in Columbus. I set up a makeshift studio in the basement of my parents home and there the painting lived from the time it was finished in mid January until a few days ago when it was transported to and hidden inside my brothers apartment. Now, I have to thank my parents for letting me take up their basement for months with this 4 foot painting of a Jack Daniel's bottle lol and I also have to thank my brothers room mate and best friend for helping to transport and store it safely as well as surprise him with it on his birthday. So thank you mom and dad and thank you John!

The best part about the whole thing was that my brother told me a few months ago he wanted a painting and I told him I would try my best, but after I left home to head back to school he knew there was no way I would get a painting done and shipped to him in time for his birthday. A few days ago he received a decoy gift in the mail with some home made granola that I made and a card saying sorry I'm too busy to make you a birthday gift. Ha. So needless to say he has been upset with me for a few days because he thought I didn't get him a real gift baahahaha. So I'm glad it all worked out and finally it is in his possession! Yay

The entire bottle is done with a pallet knife, and the background is a brush. Just black and white paint. Reference photo was taken by meeee and the bottle I used was also given to him (un-opened haha).
